GaSP! Globalisation and Spatial Practice

Extraction

Cressida is researching modes of site-specific filmmaking practice in the contested ground of Anthropocene, through the lens of extraction -- the extraction of minerals, and the extraction of narratives. The event of the removal of material from a landscape draws together complex flows of capital, labour systems, legal systems, bodies, and spatial productions.

Beginning with figure Robert Smithson's site/non-site works, she is writing with feminist and postcolonial critiques of voice in the narration of space, in a time when the formation of agencies are following the posthuman turn and rapidly shifting to enfold the material and the geological.
