Structuring urban public space for peacebuilding and reconciliation

Eleni Pashia

The aim of this research is to investigate the correlation between political decisions and the evolution of urban space and how this affects social relations between groups of people within a conflict state. Specifically, this research will concentrate on political events and economic factors [global-local] regarding the Cyprus conflict and how these have affected the city of Nicosia. It will concentrate on the implementation of urban planning interventions such as the Nicosia Sewerage System and the Nicosia Master Plan, in politico-spatial terms.
